Dallas Stars to Hold 2015 Training Camp in Cedar Park
The Dallas Stars will travel down the highway to their minor-league affiliate next fall to hold their training camp in the Austin suburb.
With the 2014-15 NHL season winding its way down, the Dallas Stars are making preparations for how they will get ready for 2015-16 with the announcement of the training camp location for next fall.

— Mark Stepneski (@StarsInsideEdge) March 23, 2015 This marks the first time in three years the Stars have left the Metroplex for the training camp portion of the preseason, though Dallas did have an intrasquad scrimmage and practice day in Cedar Park later in the preseason last fall, and the team has a long history of trying out new locations.
The Stars have held training camp in Fort Worth for the past two seasons, and in 2012, they had the lockout-delayed camp in Boise, Idaho, the home of their ECHL affiliate Idaho Steelheads. In 2010 and 2011, they went all the way to Prince Edward Island for camp, and before that they stayed home in Frisco for several seasons.
The obvious upside for camp in Cedar Park is not only the proximity to the awesome city of Austin but the chance for Texas Stars fans to see the development of their AHL graduates up-close and personal as well. The AHL team moved to Texas in 2010, and five years later, a very significant chunk of the NHL roster can point to time at the Cedar Park Center as integral in their development.
Notably, Dallas owner Tom Gaglardi completed the purchase of the Texas Stars and Cedar Park Center in December, a move that not only brings the franchises into financial as well as developmental alignment but also bodes well for the growth of the sport as a whole in the Austin metro area.
