Let’s Party Like It’s 1999

The Dallas Stars are on quite a roll right now. As we wait for Game 3 versus the Colorado Avalanche, check out a playoff shirt designed to mark the current streak of five straight playoff wins:

For pricing and purchase information, check them out here.

The Stars are currently two wins away from advancing to the Western Conference Finals for the first time since the 2007-2008 season. That’s when the Stars advanced to that round when Brenden Morrow scored in a fourth overtime period against the San Jose Sharks in the Conference Semifinals. They eventually fell to the Red Wings in the next round, 4-2.

A Western Conference Finals appearance would be just the fifth time in Dallas Stars history since the franchise relocated to Texas prior to the 1993-1994 season. The Stars have advanced to the Stanley Cup Finals 50 percent of the time they made the Conference Finals round, winning the Cup in 1999 and missing out on a back-to-back when they fell to the New Jersey Devils the following year.

It’s going to be a tough road to get to the Conference Finals. Even though the Stars have a 2-0 series lead over the Avalanche right now, it’s very reasonable that the opponent is going to come out swinging tonight. There is still a big fight ahead of the Victory Green squad, and those last two wins are not assured.

Puck drop is at 9:30 PM tonight on NBCSN. (With pre-game activities, add about 20 minutes to that for when the game actually gets underway. So make sure to take those naps and set the coffee pot, it’s going to be a late one.)
