Dallas Stars Select Goaltender Colton Point 128th Overall

Like widely predicted, the Dallas Stars selected a goalie in the later rounds of the draft, taking Colton Point in the 5th round, 128th overall.

Point is a huge goalie, at 6’3″ and 220 pounds, and steadily got better and better as the season went along. He was the bonafide number one goalie on his junior team and really stepped up in the postseason, being named playoff MVP.

He played for the Carleton Place Canadians in a Junior A league called the CCHL, but he’ll be heading to Colgate in the NCAA next season. He’ll get plenty of time to develop there over the next few years

This is a safe, smart pick for the Stars, using a late round selection on a late-blooming goalie that was highly regarded this season and ranked a lot higher than 128th in a few places.
