Need I say more?

I will say some more. My biggest criticism for Radek Faksa this season is that he should have been playing more. In 79 games while playing fourth-line minutes with no power play time, Radek Faksa managed 1.4 primary points per hour, which is usually indicative of second-line usage. His point total of 33 points is sixth on the Dallas Stars and his shooting percentage is on par with Jamie Benn’s, and better than Tyler Seguin’s.

He spent 500 minutes this season playing with Antoine Roussel and Tyler Pitlick on his wings. I’ve already talked about Pitlick’s gem of a season, and Roussel’s player grade is somewhat less exciting. As a unit, that line had positive possession and was positive in goals for and against. They were also positive in expected goals for.

Faksa’s graph of goals for might be my favorite one I’ve looked at so far, given how he’s actually obscuring the word “good.” His shots for is less exciting, but both numbers are still in the good category. He keeps the opposing team out of the front of his own net and drives to the net on the opposing side. And this, by the way, is a huge improvement over last year.

Hopefully, Faksa will be a part of this team for seasons to come, and given his play this year, he could be the answer to the problem of a center on the second line. But that’s the future, and we’re here to look at the past. How would you rate Faksa’s season?
