Dallas, Texas Stars Set for Intrasquad Scrimmage in Cedar Park

Most NHL teams are still working their way through the preseason schedule, trying to get everything tuned up for the start of the season that is now mere days away.

The Dallas Stars, meanwhile, are four days removed from their final preseason contest, working in an eight-day span without a game to get ready for their own opening night.

But that doesn’t mean the Stars are without stiff competition. They will get their own final tune up today as they combine with the AHL champion Texas Stars for an intrasquad scrimmage. It will be the first chance for recently signed RFA’s Cody Eakin and, likely, Brenden Dillon to reestablish game-situation chemistry with their teammates.

The scrimmage is scheduled to start at 3 p.m. at the Cedar Park Center. Tickets can be purchased starting at $18 for individual seats or $15 a seat as part of a four-pack. Streaming for this scrimmage, audio or video, is not known.

Because of the uncertain timing surrounding his immigration status, Dillon was not placed on either the green or white rosters that have been released, which are, as always, subject to change. The full released versions of the rosters can be found below:

Dillon and Eakin may get a final tune up Sunday with the Texas Stars in an AHL preseason game, likely on some sort of conditioning assignment. Dallas coach Lindy Ruff suggested the possibility after Friday’s practice, but new Texas Stars coach Derek Laxdal did not have any information after his team’s preseason game Friday night.
