Dallas Stars Schedule: Home Opener Against Pittsburgh Penguins on October 8

At the NHL’s general manager’s meetings Tuesday night, teams were provided with their full schedule for the 2015-2016 season. We anticipate having that full schedule tomorrow. When it comes out we’ll get it to you quickly. We do, however, have the home opener.

The Dallas Stars open at home on Thursday, October 8, against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

The Stars played a pair of memorable games against the Penguins last season, scoring two goals in the final three minutes after the apparent game-tying goal was waived off, culminating with Tyler Seguin’s power-play goal with 2.9 seconds remaining and Sidney Crosby in the box. You might remember Jamie Benn’s tying goal as the “suck on that” goal.

Don’t make Jamie Benn angry. Other teams don’t like it when he’s angry.

In mid-March, Brett Ritchie and Benn scored within 90 seconds of each other in the second period and Kari Lehtonen made 31 saves in a 2-1 Stars win that kept the team’s playoff dreams alive for the time being.

Given that the opener is against the Penguins, the Stars may very well open the season on some sort of national broadcast. Last year the home opener was on October 9th against the eventual Stanley Cup Champion Chicago Blackhawks.

It’s still to be determined fully what lineup is going to be taking the ice when the home opener gets here, but at least now we know when we can expect to see Stars hockey in Dallas again.
