Stars 2017-2018 Full Season Schedule Released

The full regular season schedule was released today. And there was much rejoicing!

One positive about the schedule is that Dallas only has 12 back-to-back sets this season. That’s a nice change from the 15+ Stars fans were used to back in the old days when the Stars were quizzically placed in the Pacific Division.

Of the home games Dallas has, 24 are on a weekend night – more than 50%!

For the first time in a while, Dallas will play the last game of the season away from their home confines. Actually, they’ll end their home schedule a full week ahead of the end of the season, as they’ll do a California swing the last week of the regular season.

Only 4 road games occur on a Saturday, for anyone looking at the schedule for a nice road trip to take without having to use a lot of vacation days. (Not pointing that out for my own personal reasons, no sir…..)

Cody Eakin will open the season in Dallas, his first game after being taken in the expansion draft by the new Vegas team last night. Ken Hitchcock will return to St Louis the first weekend of the season, so all expected reunions to date will occur pretty early on — though we are likely to have a few other notable ones by the time general manager Jim Nill is done assembling his team for next year.

Now we get to count down the long 105 days until the season starts. Thus resets our “Is it October yet?” counter.
