Dallas Stars Reassign Patrik Nemeth to Texas Stars For Playoffs

The Dallas Stars have reassigned Patrik Nemeth to the Texas Stars.

Nemeth, who has missed the majority of the season after taking an RJ Umberger skate to the forearm, will get some additional playing time with the Texas Stars in their playoff series.

Texas clinched their playoff spot with a 5-0 shutout of the Hamilton Bulldogs last night. They are assured of a spot somewhere in the 5th or 6th range, as the points that the Rockford Ice Hogs gained in last night’s win put the fourth spot out of reach.

Texas won the Calder Cup last season, and making the playoffs this year will give them the chance to defend their title. The playoff run is instrumental in the development of the Dallas Stars playoffs and helps to establish the winning culture the team is trying to establish throughout the organization.

Here is the official release of Nemeth’s signing to Texas.

Dallas Stars General Manager Jim Nill announced today that the club has reassigned defenseman Patrik Nemeth to the Texas Stars, Dallas’ top development affiliate in the American Hockey League.

Nemeth, 23, registered three assists in 22 games played for Dallas this season. He missed 52 games to injury after suffering an arm laceration on Oct. 18 against Philadelphia. The blueliner also appeared in five games for Texas from Feb. 20 – 28, posting one assist.

The 6-foot-3, 230-pound native of Stockholm, Sweden was originally selected by Dallas in the second round (41st overall) of the 2010 NHL Draft.
