North American Juniors and NCAA

OHL

Remi Elie’s trade to the Erie Otters has really helped his offensive game. He played two games this week on Friday and Saturday and had seven points through those games.

He scored a natural hat trick in a 7-4 win against the Kingston Frontenacs on Friday. This included the game winner for Erie, he also had an assist on an empty net goal. Unfortunately highlights of this game aren’t available on the OHL website. Judging by the plus/minus awarded for those goals most came with Dylan Strome on the ice. He was named first star of the game for his four point game.

On Sunday he’d have a goal and two assists in a 6-5OT win against the North Bay Battalion. He’d score on the powerplay near the end of the second period, with assists going to Dylan Strome and Connor McDavid, but also have two primary assists on equal strength goals. He’d assist on Troy Donnay’s goal which would make it 5-3 early in the third period. Topping off the performance Elie would have the only assist on McDavid’s OT winner. Remi Elie was named second star of the game for his efforts.

Jason Dickinson extended his point streak to nine games with a four point effort this week. In a 3-2 loss to the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds he’d get a single goal early in the second period. He scored a powerplay goal to tie up the game. Highlights of the game can be found here.

In a 5-4 win against the Saginaw Spirit, Dickinson would have two assists as the Guelph Storm rallied from a 4-1 deficit to win. He’d assist on Tyler Bertuzzi’s powerplay goal and his equal strength goal that tied the game nearly half way through the third period.

On Sunday the Storm would beat the Kingston Frontenacs 4-3 in overtime. Dickinson would finish with a goal in this game, his fifteenth of the season and a shorthanded goal, early in the second period. Highlights of the game can be found here.

The Niagara IceDogs played four games this week and Aaron Haydon finished with a single assist over those games. In a 7-2 defeat of the Mississauga Steelheads he’d get the assist on their fifth goal, scored on the powerplay. He’s been playing on the IceDogs top defensive pairing.

Brent Moran played a pair of games for the IceDogs this week. He’d backstop them to a 4-3OT loss to the North Bay Battalion on Friday. He finished with a 0.895SVS%, letting in four goals on 38 shots. Highlights of the game can be found here.

In the second game, another game that couldn’t be decided in regulation, Moran saved 35 shots out of 38, a 0.921SVS%. He’d save all three shots he faced in the shootout as well to clinch the victory for the IceDogs over the Belleville Bulls. Highlights of that game can be found here.

Alex Peters remains out with injury and is unlikely to return for the end of the season.

Patrick Sanvido only played two games this week, going pointless through both of them. He wasn’t in action on Satuday however. He injured his shoulder on Friday and his status is week to week.
