Dallas Stars Prospect Update: Dickinson And Elie Have Eight Game Point Streaks, Pollock's Streak Broken At Nine Games
How have the Dallas Stars prospects done in this past week of hockey? Defending Big D is committed to to giving you weekly updates as their seasons progress.
North American Juniors and NCAA
OHL
Remi Elie is currently on a eight game point streak with the Erie Otters and has 15 points over that streak, including seven points in the past week.
On Tuesday the Otters faced the Niagara IceDogs, a game which the Otters won 3-0. Remi Elie would register a single assist in the game, a primary assist on Alexander DeBrincat's 45th of the year early in the second period.
In a 4-1 win against the Windsor Spitfires on Saturday, Elie would score a goal and have a pair of assists. His goal was his 29th of the year and opened the scoring for the Otters. He'd also assist on a pair of Connor McDavid goals, McDavid's 41st and 42nd goals of the year respectively. Elie was named second star of the game.
On Sunday the Otters would play the Kitchener Rangers, winning 5-1. Remi Elie had three assists in the game on a pair of even strength goals and a powerplay goal. Elie now has 75 points in 61 games in the OHL this year.
There don't appear any highlights of these games put up by either the OHL or the individual teams.
Jason Dickinson is currently on an eight game point streak and has 11 points through that time. He only played two games with the Guelph Storm this week and finished with three points through them.
On Thursday they played the Windsor Spitfires and won 9-3. Dickinson finished with a goal and an assist in the contest. He assisted on Tyler Bertuzzi's 42nd of the year and scored his 25th goal of the year as well in the game. Highlights of the game can be found here.
On Friday the Storm lost 5-3 to the Windsor Spitfires. Dickinson had a single assist on Bertuzzi's powerplay goal early in the second period. Highlights of the game can be found here.
Aaron Haydon played three games for the Niagara IceDogs and finished with a single assist. He got his assist during the IceDog's 4-3 win against the Sudbury Wolves on Saturday. Highlights of the game can be found here.
Brent Moran started a pair of games this week, losing the first against Erie 3-0, and winning the second 8-4 against the Windsor Spitfires. Against Erie he made 22 saves out of 25 shots he faced. That was a 0.880SVS%. Against the Spitfires he made 27 saves out of 31 shots, a 0.871SVS%. Highlights of that game can be found here.
Patrick Sanvido played three games with the Windsor Spitfires and went pointless through those games. He has 10 points through 56 games this season, a career best. The Spitfires are out of playoff contention in the OHL.
Alex Peters remains out injured.
WHL
Brett Pollock had his point streak broken at nine games. He played three games this week with the Edmonton Oil Kings and finished with a single assist. The assist came during an 8-1 drumming of the Saskatoon Blades on Tuesday. He got the assist on the opening goal less than one minute into the first period. Highlights of the game can be found here.
The Oil Kings clinched their playoff spot in the WHL Playoffs.
Cole Ully is currently on a seven game point streak for the Kamloops Blazers. He has 12 points over that seven game streak. In three games this week he had five points.
On Wednesday he had a three point game as the Blazers beat the Prince George Cougars 7-4. Ully finished with a goal and two assists. His goal was his 33rd goal of the year and he added a pair of assists to clinch the game late in the third period. All his points came at even strength. Highlights of the game can be found here.
He added another assist in a 5-1 win against the Kelowna Rockets on Friday. He was named third star of the game for his effort. Highlights of the game can be found here.
They'd face the Kelowna Rockets again on Saturday, losing 2-1. Ully would have another assist in the game on Matt Needham's 24th goal of the year. Highlights of the game can be found here.
With three games left in the Blazers season it is still possible for them to clinch a playoff spot. They face the Prince George Cougars in all three of those games. They are two points behind for the last division ranking and are tied on points for the last wildcard spot.
The WHL regular season finishes on the 22nd March.
QMJHL
Philippe Desrosiers played two games this week for the Rimouski Oceanic. On Wednesday he back stopped the Oceanic to a 4-3SO win against Chicoutimi. He saved 26 of the 29 shots he faced and saved all but one of the seven shootout attempts he faced. He had a 0.897SVS%.
On Friday he had his first regulation loss since the 22nd of February. The Oceanic lost 4-2 to the Baie-Comeau Drakkar and Desrosiers made 17 saves on 20 shots. He had a 0.850SVS%.
The QMJHL regular season ends on the 21st March. The Rimouski Oceanic are currently top of their division and in tied first place for the best team in the QMJHL regular season.
USHL
Matej Paulovic had his point streak broken at seven games, and he had 11 points through those games. He had a goal and two assists on Friday during a 9-2 win. He has 41 points through 43 games.
NCAA
Mike Prapavessis played two games with RPI this week as they lost to St Lawrence in the ECAC Quarter Finals. They lost game one 1-0 and the second game 5-1. Prapavessis went pointless in those games. RPI are no longer in the playoffs with those results.
Shortly after Maine went out of the post season Devin Shore signed his entry level contract with the Dallas Stars and was assigned to the Texas Stars in the AHL.
Europe
Sweden
Farjestad lost their best of three wildcard series to Brynas, losing the the first and third games. Ludwig Bystrom finished pointless in the series and averaged about 18 minutes of ice time per game. He joined the Texas Stars on Saturday after his season finished and played his first AHL game on Sunday.
Both Mattias Janmark and Mattias Backman begun their own playoffs this week. Frolunda are currently tied at one in their series against Lulea. Linkoping are also tied at one in their series against HV71.
Mattias Janmark went pointless in the 3-2 win on Wednesday and played 15 minutes. In a 2-1 loss to Lulea on Saturday he had a powerplay goal. He played just under 17 minutes in the contest. Game three is on Monday.
Mattias Backman missed Linkoping's first game of the playoffs but was in action for the second game of the series. He played over 20 minutes in a 3-2 loss to HV71. He also finished a minus two in the game. Game three is on Tuesday.
Rogle advanced to the SHL Promotion series this week, winning both of their games. They finished top of the table ensuring that they face Vasteras, another Allsvenskan team. That best of seven promotion series starts on Tuesday.
On Wednesday they played Mora, winning 4-3 in overtime. Molin opened the scoring, his first of the year, early in the first period. Hansson went pointless. Molin played 15 minutes of ice time and Hansson played 14 minutes.
They beat Bjorkloven on Friday, winning 3-1. Molin had a pair of assists in the win, one at equal strength and another on the powerplay. Hansson would also have an assist. Again, Molin played 15 minutes and Hansson played 14 minutes.
John Nyberg played two games this week and finished with a goal and two assists. He had all those points during a 6-1 defeat of the Vaxjo Lakers J20. He went pointless in a 5-2 win against Tingsryds J20.
Frolunda J20 finished off their regular season this week, finishing top of the table for the second group of J20 teams. They play a best of three series in the first round of the playoffs. They face Orebro J20.
Finland
Esa Lindell played two regular season games and two post season games in the last week. In a 5-2 win he had a pair of goals, including the game winner. He had 35 points in 57 games this season. This was the joint highest points total, and in fewer games. He is the youngest ever defenseman to top the defensive scoring totals. He averaged just under 25 minutes per game over the regular season.
In two post season games he went pointless. Assat lost game one 6-0 and Lindell finished with only a minus one. In game two, a 2-1OT loss, he went pointless again. He averaged about 24 and a half minutes per game.
With his season over its likely that Esa Lindell will join the Texas Stars in the next week or two. He is also seen as a favourite for the Finnish World Championship squad. According to this Finnish media story, Esa Lindell will head to Texas either on Tuesday or Wednesday.
Aleksi Makela was out injured for Ilves' wildcard series. They lost in two games so his season is now over.
Russia
Dmitry Sinitsyn has yet to play in a KHL playoff game. Dynamo Moscow are currently behind 2-1 in their second round series against SKA.
