Dallas Stars Prospect Update: Denis Guryanov Gets First KHL Goal And Assist Of The Season
How have the Dallas Stars prospects done in this past week of hockey? Defending Big D is committed to to giving you weekly updates as their seasons progress.
North America Juniors And NCAA
OHL
Alex Peters played a pair of games for the Flint Firebirds this week as the OHL started its season. Peters went pointless in a pair of wins for the Firebirds.
Chris Martenet played the first two games for the London Knights this week. He went pointless as the Knights lost one game in overtime and winning the other. He finished the week with a plus one rating and four penalty minutes.
In two games for the Niagara IceDogs Aaron Haydon finished pointless and with a plus two rating. He finished with a plus three during an 8-1 rout of the Sudbury Wolves on Friday.
Patrick Sanvido started off his season with the Windsor Spitfires by going pointless through two games. The Spitfires split the two games in overtime.
Brent Moran has had a good start to the season with the Niagara IceDogs. He has played two games, back to back games, getting the win in an 8-1 loss while dropping the game against the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds 3-1. Through two games he has a 0.931SVS%.
WHL
Brett Pollock had a good start to the season with two points through his first two games in back to back games with the Red Deer Rebels.
He scored the Oil Kings only goal in a 4-1 loss on Saturday. Highlights can be found here. It was a nice goal, one on one with the goalie and putting it high on the stick side.
In the second game, a 3-2OT loss, Pollock had an assist on the Oil Kings opening goal in the second period. Highlights of the game can be found here.
USHL
Matej Paulovic returns to the Muskegon Lumbers for a second season. In just the single game played in the USHL he was held pointless.
NCAA
The NCAA has not yet begun its regular season but next week will see pre season exhibition games for both RPI and Michigan.
Europe
Sweden
Niklas Hansson had a three game point streak to begin the season but went pointless in the fourth game of the season. He got his third assist of the year on Filip Sandberg's game winning goal in a 4-1 win on Thursday for HV71.
Hansson is playing on the second defensive pairing but is averaging over 21 minutes of ice time per game.
John Nyberg got his first point of the year in the Allsvenska. He got a secondary assist on the game winning goal in a 2-1 win again IF Bjorkloven.
He is averaging around 15 minutes of ice time per game with Oskarshamn.
Finland
In news that I missed Troy Vance has been loaned to Assat in the Liiga. He's gone pointless in the past seven games but is averaged over 23 minutes of ice time per game.
Aleksi Makela has been loaned, I believe, to Leki in the Mestis (Finnish second division). He's gone pointless through two games with them and is averaging around 16 minutes of ice time per game.
Roope Hintz is still out injured and has not played in the Liiga this week.
Miro Karjalainen hasn't play for HIFK J20 this week. I haven't been able to find out any information on whether he is injured or not but it is possible he was suspended after he had a 20 minute major penalty in each of his first two games.
Neither of the Dallas Stars' Finnish goalie prospects has played this week.
Russia
Denis Guryanov played three more games in the KHL this week. He got his first goal and his first assist of the year in a 5-4OT loss on Sunday. The KHL website has a video of his first KHL goal of the year, you can watch it here. He is number 97.
Dmitry Sinitsyn has started this season in the VHL, the Russian second division. He's gone pointless so far through four games with Dynamo Balashikha. He is playing over 18 minutes per game so far this season.
