Dallas Stars Prospect Update: Brett Pollock’s Seven Game Point Streak, Hansson Has Three Point Game

North American Juniors and NCAA

OHL

Alex Peters played two games this week for the Flint Firebirds and went pointless through both of them. He has three points through 11 games this season.

Chris Martenet played three games for the London Knights and went pointless through all three of those games. He has four points, all assists, in 12 games for the Knights.

Aaron Haydon was healthy scratched for the games this week and did not play. The coach, Marty Williamson, for the the Niagara IceDogs told the Niagara Advance:

“I’ll call it a coach’s decision.

“When we sit out some of our better players for reasons, then it’s nice to see others step it up”

It is unclear what particular reason caused Haydon to be held out. He has gone pointless through the 10 games he has played this year.

Brent Moran also didn’t play for the IceDogs this week. He took a puck to the head in practice and was held out of the games at the weekend.

Patrick Sanvido is also out injured. He appears to be out with a knee injury, I have not yet seen a time frame for his return to action.

WHL

Brett Pollock continues to lead the Edmonton Oil Kings. He extended his point streak to seven games, with nine points through those games.

He had three assists this week through two games. On Tuesday he got a single assist during a 3-2OT loss to the Saskatoon Blades. He had the primary assist on Lane Bauer game tying goal. Highlights can be seen here.

On Saturday he assisted on a pair of goals, one on the powerplay the other at even strength, during a 4-3 loss to the Lethbridge Hurricanes. Highlights can be seen here.

Pollock has 13 points through 12 games this season.

USHL

Matej Paulovic had a single point this week for the Muskegon Lumberjacks and now has three points through give games this season. He scored a goal on Saturday during a 3-2 loss to the Youngstown Phantoms.

NCAA

Mike Prapavessis got his third assist of the season this week. The RPI Engineers played only one game, against Michigan, which they lost 5-2.

Prapavessis got the secondary assist on a powerplay goal for RPI.

Joseph Cecconi got his first NCAA point this weekend through two games for Michigan. He got his assist in a 5-2 win against RPI. He had the assist on Tony Calderone’s game winner.

Europe

Sweden

Niklas Hansson had three assists through three games for HV71 this week. All three of the assists came during a 6-2 win against MODO on Friday.

Only two of the assists were put on the highlight reel. The first assist comes from a cross ice feed to set up a point shot that was tipped in. It can be seen here.

The other came from delivering a quick pass to an onrushing forward put it in the net. Highlights of that can be seen here.

Hansson is second in points for HV71 and leads their defensive scoring. He is also second in the SHL in defensive point scoring, averaging over 22 minutes of ice time per game.

John Nyberg played in three games for Oskarshamn in the Allsvenska this week, going pointless through all of their games. He played around 18 minutes in two of those games and apparently over 30 minutes in another after a series of players were either injured or benched

Finland

Troy Vance added another assist to his total, giving him four assists throughout this season. He continues to get big minutes for Assat, regularly averaged over 22 minutes per game.

Vance got his assist during a 3-0 win against the Pelicans on Saturday.

Aleksi Makela remains to play in the Liiga for Ilves. He’s not logging huge minutes, about 13 minutes per game in the three games he played this week. He went pointless in all three.

Henri Kiviaho did not play for Ilves this week.

Miro Karjalainen only played the single game for HIFK J20 this week and he went pointless in the contest. I believe he was injured in the game and did not return for their second game of the week.

Russia

Denis Guryanov got his second goal of the year in the KHL this week. He scored during a 4-2 win on Sunday and he played over 14 minutes of ice time. You can watch the highlights here. Guryanov scores the first goal of the game.

Dmitry Sinitsyn played two games this week and finished with a single assist. He got his assist during a 5-4SO win. He also got 25 penalty minutes in the game as a result of a game misconduct and a major penalty for boarding.
