Dallas Stars Prospect Update: Brett Pollock Has Five Point Week

North American Juniors and NCAA

OHL

It has been an interesting week for the Flint Firebirds this week. The owner fired the coaching staff, again, which culminated in the OHL placing one of the leagues officials in charge of the team.

It is too complicated a story to explain here but TSN has a nice roundup of the entire situation which can be read here.

The team continued to play, playing a total of four games, despite fired coaches and suspension of most of those dealing with hockey operations.

Alex Peters played four games for the Firebirds this week and finished pointless through all of them.

Through three games Brent Moran finished with one win and two losses. Both losses came against the London Knights where he registered save percentages below .900. In the one win of the week, a 4-3 win against Sarnia, Moran saved 38 of the 41 shots he faced (a 0.927SVS%) and earned third star honours.

Chris Martenet played two games this week for the London Knights and finished pointless through both of them.

Aaron Haydon played three games for the Niagara IceDogs and went pointless through both of them. He has 10 points in 54 games.

In four games for the Windsor Spitfires, Patrick Sanvido finished pointless. He has 7 points through 38 games this season.

WHL

Brett Pollock continued his point per game pace through four games this week. He had 5 points in games against the Wheat Kings and Moose Jaw.

On Friday he was part of every goal that was scored by the Oil Kings. He scored twice and added an assist during a 8-3 loss to the Brandon Wheat Kings. Highlights of the game can be found here. It was a bit of a scrappy game but Pollock did score a nice goal on the breakaway.

Pollock would add another goal and an assist on Saturday during a 3-2 win against the Moose Jaw Warriors. He scored the Oil Kings second goal and would get the primary assist on the game winner. He’d score his goal with what was a good shot from the top of the circles.

Highlights of the game can be found here.

Pollock has 63 points in 60 games this season, more than his previous total of 62.

USHL

Matej Paulovic played four games this week in the USHL and finished with five points. In a pair of games against the Madison Capitols he finished with a goal and three assists through a 6-5OT win and a 5-2 loss. He’d add another assist against USA-18.

NCAA

Mike Prapavessis finished with a single assist through two games this week in the NCAA.

He got the assist during a 5-4OT loss to Quinnipiac on Friday. It was his 14th point of the year.

Joseph Cecconi got his 6th assist of the year in the one game he played this week. He got an assist on Zach Werenski’s goal to make it 4-1.

Europe

Sweden

Niklas Hansson played three games this week for HV71 and finished with a single assist. He got the assist during a 3-2 win against Brynas.

John Nyberg had a single assist through three games this week for Oskarshamn. He got the assist during a 2-1 loss to Timra last Monday.

Finland

In three games Roope Hintz finished with a single assist in the Liiga this week. He got the assist during a 5-2 win against HPK. It was his 13th point of the year.

Aleksi Makela played three games for Ilves this week and finished pointless through all three of them. He averaged over 15 minutes of ice time through those three games.

Troy Vance had a goal and an assist through three games for Assat this week. He got both the goal and the assist during a 5-2 win against the Blues. He was named second star of the game.

Henri Kiviaho played three games for Ilves this week, finishing with one regulation win, a regulation loss and an overtime loss.

Kiviaho had save percentages of 0.961 and 0.940 through his first two games, getting first and second star honours, before a 5-2 loss on Saturday where he finished with a 0.848SVS%.

Miro Karjalainen did not play this week in the Finnish juniors.

Russia

Denis Guryanov played two games in the KHL this week, finishing pointless through both of them. He averaged 14 minutes of ice time through those games.

Dmitry Sinitsyn played a single game in the KHL this week, going pointless.
