Dallas Stars Prospect Jack Campbell Assigned to Idaho Steelheads of ECHL

The Texas Stars have announced the team has assigned goaltender Jack Campbell to the Idaho Steelheads of the ECHL, in order to get the Dallas Stars prospect more playing time.

100 Degree Hockey has the story here.

Campbell has fought through injury and illness in each of the past two seasons that have slowed his development; this season — unlike 2013-14 — Campbell hasn’t played well in the games in which he’s actually been healthy. The young goaltender has a 3.53 GAA and .867 save percentage in five games in January, and hasn’t played since Jan. 20.

For the season, Campbell is 3-10-4 with a 3.36 GAA and .890 save percentage.

The Stars have wanted Campbell to earn his starts and force the team to play him more, and that hasn’t happened. This move will allow Campbell to get more regular minutes and hopefully get back into the groove he enjoyed last season, when he was 12-2-2 with a 1.49 GAA and .942 save percentage.
