The Idaho Steelheads also announced today that their affiliation agreement with the Dallas Stars has been extended for another two years. The agreement will end after the 2017-2018 season. The Steelheads have been the ECHL affiliate of the Dallas Stars since 2005-2006.

Odds and Ends

*The Chicago Blackhawks have found themselves approximately $5 million in cap space, as they traded Bryan Bickell and Teuvo Teravainen to the Carolina Hurricanes for a 2016 second round pick and 2017 third round pick. [Puck Daddy]

*The Detroit Red Wings re-signed center Riley Sheahan to a two-year, $4.15 million contract. It carries an average value of $2.075 million each year.

*Phil Kessel stated that he's likely bringing the Stanley Cup to Toronto. I place the odds on hot dogs ending up in the Cup are about 4-to-1.
