Dallas Stars to Play Preseason Game in Las Vegas Against Los Angeles Kings

The Stars will have one of their final preseason games in the new arena on the Strip, which is in the running for an NHL expansion team.

It's far too early to be thinking about next preseason for any length of time, but if you're already making vacation plans for the fall, the Dallas Stars have announced they will be playing one of their final preseason games is Las Vegas, Nev., on Friday, Oct. 7.

The game will be hosted by the Los Angeles Kings, who have played regular preseason games in Las Vegas over the past several years. Generally, the Kings play one game against the Colorado Avalanche for the event, and this year the Stars will be joining the event roster.

Vegas is obviously one of the places being considered for NHL expansion, though it would make more sense as a Pacific Division entrant than a Central Division one. The Stars-Kings game would almost certainly be the first NHL game played at the new T-Mobile Arena, which is located on the Las Vegas Strip.

The other note is it's a fairly late preseason game, as far as these things go, and points to a start of the season sometime around Oct. 12 or 13.

Here is the official release from the Stars:

The Dallas Stars announced today that the club will play a preseason game in Las Vegas, Nevada at the new T-Mobile Arena on Friday, Oct. 7, 2016 against the Los Angeles Kings as part of the club's 2016 preseason schedule. The Kings will be hosting their annual "Frozen Fury" exhibition in Las Vegas, playing the Stars on the 7th and the Colorado Avalanche on the 8th.

Ticket information for the game will be made available at a later date, as well as the remainder of the Stars preseason schedule. Fans are encouraged to register for free Stars Insider emails at DallasStars.com/Insider in order to be notified when tickets are made available for sale.

"We're thrilled to incorporate this trip to Las Vegas into our preseason schedule," said Stars President, CEO and Alternate Governor Jim Lites. "The new T-Mobile Arena is a beautiful facility and we're proud to take part in one of the first sporting events there."
