Dallas Looking to Break Their Losing Streak in Calgary Tonight

For the first time since they met in the playoff bubble last August, the Dallas Stars and Calgary Flames will play against each other. Right now, these two teams are not on a playoff collision course, but the season is still young.

While the Stars only have three wins in their first ten games, the Flames have six wins in their first nine games. Of course, as has been stated previously, the concerning part is that Dallas’ only wins have come in overtime. That’s right. Ten games in and zero regulation wins.

Another concerning thing about this team is that they have already played five overtime games. Dallas played 20 such games last year in a 56-game shortened season. Right now, they’re on pace for 41 of those games.

Perhaps one good thing from the loss in Winnipeg Tuesday night was the fact that Dallas got goals from Jamie Benn, Tyler Seguin and Jason Robertson. Another positive is the fact that they put together a couple of goals in the third to tie the game after trailing 3-1. Possibly this is something to build on going forward.

Dallas Potential Lines

The Calgary Flames

Even though they are coming off a loss to the Nashville Predators, the Flames are off to a great start. Led by Andrew Mangiapane and Elias Lindholm, the offense is averaging just under 3.5 goals per game. Both players lead the team with seven goals.

With 14 points, the team is tied with the Edmonton Oilers for tops in the Pacific Division. After losing their first two games of the season, Calgary won six games in a row before losing to Nashville. Possibly more impressive is the fact that Calgary has scored at least three goals in every game they’ve played this year.
