Dallas Stars forward Patrick Eaves is out with an apparent lower body injury. The full severity of the injury is not yet known, but very shortly after the broadcast noted that he left the bench they already received word that he was out for the game. We aren’t going to speculate, but that doesn’t sound good.

This is particularly troubling for those of us looking at the composition of the roster. The Stars currently are carrying eight defensemen. If Eaves is day to day the Stars will have no extra forwards on the roster which means that if someone else has a minor injury they are definitely going with seven defensemen unless a defender is dealt.
You have to think at this point that if the injury is going to keep him out for at a minimum of a few days that the Stars will just place him on injured reserve to keep an extra forward around.
