Dallas Stars Daily Links: Welcome Back, 91

The veterans come in clutch.

I’m not ready to say that the switch has flipped for the Dallas Stars. After the last couple of weeks of the regular season, and even Game 1 of this series, the general temperament of the Stars faithful had been put to the test. Is this team just not ready to compete at the highest level for the Stanley Cup? Are there too many holes in the defense? Are the forwards going to come alive? What about the injuries? The goaltending?

Those questions still exist, of course, and any suggestion that the last two overtime wins were perfectly played would be foolish. But maybe, just maybe, are we seeing this team turn a corner at just the right time? They’re already flipping the script.

Unusual? Well, this Dallas team has spent the last month telling you that they don’t stick to the script, and who can really argue with them at this point? You’re not supposed to drop seven games in a row to end the season if you want to have a good playoff run. You’re not supposed to lose Game 1 eight times in a row if your coach knows what he’s doing. You’re not supposed to take penalties at the end of a tie game in the playoffs and start overtime down a man, and you’re definitely not supposed to do that twice in a row. Finally, you’re not supposed to be up a game in a series you’ve led by 63 total seconds.

And to make matters even more interesting – the Avalanche should have been riding high. They got their captain, Gabriel Landeskog, back in time for Game 3, and emotions were high.

This wasn’t supposed to be the Stars’ night, anyway. Colorado’s captain, Gabriel Landeskog, made an emotional return after three years away from the sport, and wouldn’t it have been fitting for him to have this glorious moment? He even got some power-play time in the sudden-death overtime to make the storybook ending that much more plausible.

Jake Oettinger mentioned after the game that he likes playing the part of spoiler, and relishes the 20-men-against-the-building mentality. It shows – and it looks like we’ve got a series after all. Check out more from Robert Tiffin in his recap over at D Magazine.

Dallas Stars Stuff

I can watch this over and over….

Same with this one. Esa Lindell just doing Esa Lindell things.

Around the NHL

The Kings may have turned a corner of their own with the Oilers?

A lot being said about the officiating thus far in the playoffs. Even LASIK surgeons piling on the hate.

Greetings from Scenic Cedar Park!

ICYMI…the Texas Stars are in the semi-finals!

Finally

I’m feeling this kind of energy today.
