Roughly three months into the Victory+ experience, things have been, well, victorious thus far….
When the Dallas Stars announced that they would be airing their games on Victory+, which is free for in-market households, it was greeted with a lot of positive response, but with a lot of questions as well. With this decision, the Stars joined a very small group of teams that also offered free broadcasting, which includes the Anaheim Ducks (Victory+), Vegas Golden Knights, Utah Hockey Club & Florida Panthers (Scripps). What sets the Stars and Ducks apart from the rest of the pack is that Victory+ is exclusively a streaming service versus on-air.
D Magazine writer Sean Shapiro published a piece on his personal website, Shap Shots, that covered his interview with Jeremy Mason, who is the chief brand officer for A Parent Media Company (the company that supports Victory+). Below is an excerpt from Shapiro’s article covering some of what was discussed:
“I recently spoke with Jeremy Mason, the chief brand officer for APMC, who said the biggest challenge early on has been onboarding a new audience to Victory+, which was both expected and echoes what I’ve heard from those within the Stars and Ducks organizations.
Mason also said the key for APMC with Victory+ has been open about managing feedback. Believe it or not, they comb through the social media and reddit posts about Victory+ for feedback, trying to find as much unbiased opinion as possible on the platform.
Mason said the goal is to best serve teams serving their fans, which is why APMC has sought out feedback from all avenues.”
According to APMC, per Shapiro, there have been more than 500,000 application downloads which has led to over 125,000 additional viewers per game compared to last season. This is such a great thing to see considering that many households up to this point have not had access to their hometown Stars games largely due to affordability. This has been an absolute game changer for our fan base. Thank you, Dallas Stars.

Stars Stuff
Always leaves me with a “feel good” watching these, especially around the holiday season.
The past couple days, we had a chance to spend some time with our friend, Holden, as we helped grant his Wish to be a #TexasHockey player with @DS_Foundation and @MakeAWishNT! 💫 pic.twitter.com/qUakeWbj1n

Around The Central
Aside from the Stars, a few other Central Division teams are in action tonight:
- The St. Louis Blues will face off against the defending champion Florida Panthers, who are returning home after a five-game road trip [ESPN].
- We have some inter-division fun this evening as the Minnesota Wild host the Utah Hockey Club. Utah has won five of their last six games [ESPN]. Can they keep their momentum going as the continue to climb in the standings?
- The Colorado Avalanche visit the Anaheim Ducks tonight in a back-to-back after defeating the San Jose Sharks last night [ESPN].

Fun to watch, but not fun to play against. Congrats, Leon.
Leon Draisaitl (751 GP) became NHL’s fifth-fastest player born outside North America to reach 900 points behind Peter Stastny (599 GP), Jari Kurri (632 GP), Jaromir Jagr (681 GP) and Nikita Kucherov (743 GP).#NHLStats: https://t.co/TXioO0Eexs pic.twitter.com/SDzptC9iDS
