Dallas Stars Daily Links: Unlucky Stars Fall to Oilers in Overtime

It might be best just to forget that last night ever happened and focus instead on the fact that the Stars are still the first team in the league to reach 20 wins. But despite those 20 wins—and despite out-shooting Edmonton by a wide margin—the Oilers managed to pull out a 2-1 win in overtime.

Dallas had a 15-4 advantage in shots on goal in the third period, but Nilsson turned away Jamie Benn, Jason Spezza, Ales Hemsky, Tyler Seguin and more.

“Give that guy credit,” Spezza said. “We had good goal scorers who had good chances. We all had good looks.”

Although they didn’t walk away with that second point last night, Ruff remained upbeat about the Stars’ 2-0-2 record on their latest road trip.

“You can’t be disappointed with six out of eight points on the road trip,” Ruff said. “We basically won three out of four. We got the points we needed, and I thought the last few games we played really well.”
