Dallas Stars Daily Links: Training Camp is Underway!
The skaters are skaters, the goalies are goaltending — what more could you ask for? Plus, USA wins World Juniors, players to keep an eye on this upcoming season, and more.
Training camp for the Dallas Stars began on Monday, so far it’s been relatively smooth sailing. Perhaps the biggest hurdle the players have to face is getting into game shape, but head coach Rick Bowness is confident they’ll get there:
“The guys are where we need them to be,” Bowness said. “We need the practices and a lot of skating to get our game legs underneath us but that’ll come as camp goes on.”
It’s a bit too early to talk about training camp standouts, but one player who’s impressed so far is veteran Joe Pavelski. Training camp was weird for Pavelski last year, given he just left the only team he ever knew in the San Jose Sharks, but all is good this time around:
“Joe looks great. He put his time in before camp started,” Bowness said. “I know when they were getting together and skating, he was leading the group. I think Joe is far more comfortable at this training camp than he was last year (2019), which is understandable. We saw the importance of Joe in the bubble and that has carried over so far in this camp.”

To the surprise of no one, the Stars will continue to emphasize defense this upcoming season:
“Our D are coming. We're not changing from that.”

Good defense led to good offense during the playoff run, and that game plan is here to stay. 📝https://t.co/NCa1yNb8oC
