The Stars ended their their three-game losing streak last night with a much-needed 4-2 win over the Canucks. Mike Heika referred to the game as “both meaningless and crucial.”
Both the Stars and Canucks are nearing mathematical elimination from the playoffs, but both are also playing a ton of kids and hoping to see what the future holds. Remi Elie, 21, tallied an assist and now has three points in six NHL games. Esa Lindell, 22, stepped up in the absence of Klingberg and played 23:45. He tallied his sixth goal in 61 games and finished plus-3.
Tyler Seguin netted the game-winner on a power play in the third frame, and shortly after that, Devin Shore and Radek Faksa teamed up to help put the game away.
But it wasn’t all good news in Vancouver. Jamie Benn left the game with an upper body injury, which Lindy Ruff says will be reevaluated today. John Klingberg also left the game briefly after blocking a shot, but later returned and, after the game, said his leg felt fine.
