Dallas Stars Daily Links: Ready To Turn the Page

The Stars dropped their sixth straight last night, putting a seven-game winning streak and glimmer of hope they could steal the Western Conference in the rear-view mirror.

The Dallas Stars have been stumbling to the finish line and have seemingly run out of steam following that hard loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins earlier in the month. They haven’t been the same since. Tomorrow, they conclude their regular season in Nashville, where a win would give them at least some momentum heading into a challenging first-round match-up against the Colorado Avalanche.

It remains to be seen who head coach Pete DeBoer plays, and/or for how long, but attention for this team has definitely shifted to Saturday ever since they were officially eliminated from winning the Western Conference. That likely explains part of the recent skid. On the bright side, the Stars’ top linemen will likely get more rest and have a fresh set of legs heading into the weekend.

The match-up against the Avalanche will be challenging, but in a way needed, as this will undoubtedly get them back into high gear. Thankfully, the Stars are well equipped to make a deep postseason run, even with the injuries they have faced. Tyler Seguin should be back in time for the first round, which comes at the perfect time — while the Avalanche may be getting Gabriel Landeskog back, which will most certainly give them a boost.

Open to hear your thoughts about how this current losing streak will impact the Stars heading into the playoffs. Do we have cause for concern or is this simply a byproduct of the team “checking out” and looking ahead to the Avalanche?

Stars Stuff

Last night wasn’t great, but there were a couple of bright spots. Here is one:

And the otter:

Around The Central

A few Central Division friends are taking the ice tonight, with the stakes high for a couple teams:

  • The Chicago Blackhawks will end their season against the Ottawa Senators tonight. Will the Blackhawks be able to reach the 60 point mark?
  • The St. Louis Blues will close out the regular season hosting the Utah Hockey Club this evening in a must-win game to increase their chances of locking in a wild-card spot.
  • The Minnesota Wild will host the Anaheim Ducks, who will clinch a wild-card spot with a win tonight.

The World Of Chel

Decided to check out for the rest of the regular season to mentally prepare for the postseason? Totally understandable; the playoffs are going to be intense, especially with the road ahead for the Stars.

Good start for this kid!

Finally

A new hope for Dallas basketball fans.
