Dallas Stars Daily Links: Seguin Is Back

It’s been tough sledding for the Stars on the final stretch of the regular season, but Tyler Seguin’s return may be the morale booster this team needs heading into the postseason.

For the first time since December 1st, it appears that Dallas Stars forward Tyler Seguin will take the ice tonight against the Nashville Predators — according to an article released by Dallas Morning News writer Lia Assimakopoulos yesterday afternoon.

This comes at a pivotal time for a team that has seemingly lost any momentum it gained during their seven-game winning streak a few weeks ago. According to Assimakopoulos, Seguin has traveled with the team on road trips for months leading up to today, providing mentorship and leadership for a Stars team that has a lot of young and promising talent with a lot on the line. Stars head coach Pete DeBoer had nothing but praise for Seguin:

“He’s turned into a real leader in our group in my time here. He carries a lot of weight when he speaks. It’s important to have him around. When he went out long-term, I talked to him that I would like him to be around as much as possible. I’d like him to come on the road at some point rather than just show up at the end, and he’s done that. I’m not sure at 19 or 20 you would’ve said that about Tyler. I think he’s grown into that. He’s learned from some great leaders, and he’s turned into one.”

One thing to keep an eye on tonight is how DeBoer deploys his lines since Seguin has been out for so long. Mikael Granlund has mostly filled in during Seguin’s absence, and has built some strong chemistry with Matt Duchene and Mason Marchment. With nothing at stake tonight, it will give DeBoer a good opportunity to do some experimenting.

Heika’s take heading into tonight:

Around The Central

With the St. Louis Blues and the Minnesota Wild winning last night, they have both clinched playoff berths, eliminating the Calgary Flames. The Stanley Cup Playoffs are filled with FIVE Central Division teams. Aside from the Stars and Avalanche matching up, the Winnipeg Jets will be playing the St. Louis Blues first round. The Minnesota Wild got dealt the Vegas Golden Knights.
