With the Global Series only two days away, the Stars are wasting no time immersing themselves in Finnish culture.
Despite a four-hour tarmac delay to depart Dallas, followed by an 11-hour flight across the pond to Finland, the Stars have not let that inhibit this once in a lifetime experience in the land of the thousand lakes. D Magazine contributor Robert Tiffin is currently creating his own once-in-a-lifetime experience overseas while also keeping tabs on what our Victory Green Gang has been up to:
“…despite the team having to cancel a rather ambitious practice yesterday as a result of the delay, they were still able to do a team bonding event with a sauna experience and a dinner with traditional Finnish dishes, such as reindeer and salmon soup (or โLohikeittoโ as itโs called here).”
Saunas, Lohikeitto and cold plunges aside, the Stars remain dialed in as they prepare to take on the Stanley Cup Champions:
“On Tuesday, the Stars practiced for a pretty hard 45 minutes or so, with some flow drills and a short scrimmage at the end of the day. One person joked after the workout that a hard practice was a good way to flush all the beer from the night before out of the body, and I suppose that goes for reindeer, too.”
The Stars head up to Tampere today, where they will face off against the Florida Panthers on Friday and Saturday. You can read more about Robert’s experience covering the Stars in Finland here.

- Coming off a loss of their own to the Chicago Blackhawks, the Colorado Avalanche host the Tampa Bay Lightning, who put away the Nashville Predators in OT on Monday [NHL].
- The Utah Hockey Club, losers of four straight, look to get back on track against the Calgary Flames, who are in the midst of a three-game losing streak [NHL].

A well-deserved ovation in what is likely the farewell tour for one of the best goalies to ever play the game:
Ovi continues to make history, having now passed Jaromir Jagr for the third most even-strength goals in NHL history. On a separate list (the more important one), he is now only 38 goals from passing Wayne Gretzky on the all-time goals list.
