Dallas Stars Daily Links: “A Dog on a Bone”

I don’t think I need to sing the praises of Radek Faksa to the DBD faithful. He finished seventh in Selke Trophy voting last year. He most likely would have been higher on the list if he had posted better offensive numbers (though his were impressive based on ice-time and situational deployment) or if he was on an east coast team. It’s really going to be interesting to see how Jim Montgomery deploys him:

“When you look at the new NHL, you don’t have a top six, you have a top seven — and Faksa is that seventh. He’s a guy who is so consistent and so good in every phase of the game. He’s a guy who can match up with those top lines, which will enable me to put whoever is playing with (Tyler) Seguin or (Jason) Spezza in favorable positions.”

Personally, I’m all for giving Faksa as many minutes as possible, because he seems like a player who has a high floor as well as a fairly high ceiling. It appears that he feels the same way:

“I want to grow. I’m still pretty young, so I just need to work hard to get better. I still have a few challenges ahead of me, so I have to work hard to progress. I thought I was prepared (for last season) from the summer. Summers are huge for me. I think you have to have a good summer to have a good season.”

Jamie Benn got a little love on the NHL Network with regards to his No. 8 spot on the “Top 20 Wings Right Now” list:

Hopefully Fiddler can still join the broadcast team every once in a while as well:

I didn’t fact check this, but I believe that it’s the farthest the “Back Home” series has traveled this offseason. Two takeaways: 1) that gym looks awesome and 2) I’m terrified of Per Edlund:

Speaking of our favorite defender, John Klingberg, he apparently has taken a liking to our newest Jim:

The Montreal Canadiens have some new center ice logo paint and our very own Razor is not happy about it:

Wyshynski has the most voted upon snubs from all 31 NHL teams “Mount Puckmore.”  Eddie the Eagle gets the nod for the Stars. I can’t argue with that, but I think Derian Hatcher should have at least gotten an honorable mention on the original list:
