Dallas Stars Daily Links: Putting The Star(s) In The Lone Star State
The Victory Green Gang embraced the archetypes, and delivered a Winter Classic for the ages. Plus, photographs and memories, New Year’s resolutions, and more.
The NHL wanted to invoke a wild, wild West feel at the Winter Classic, and they certainly got it – and not just in the Dallas Stars’ roller-coaster comeback win.
From the home team’s pregame parade of Western wear to the more groan-inducing touches like the mechanical bull, the emphasis was on having a good time, Texas style. Embracing the Lone Star aesthetic included dressing the part, and the team went after the challenge with gusto, as Stars senior staff writer Mike Heika reports:
Roman Polak went full “bad guy” with an ominous black outfit compete with a robber-style bandana. John Klingberg said he wanted to keep a European edge to his style, and added that he was impressed with the choices of all of his teammates.
Denis Gurianov and Anton Khudobin were more farmhand style, while Jamie Oleksiak, Roope Hintz and Miro Heiskanen leaned toward a gentleman look.
”I thought everyone looked real good,” Klingberg said. “It was a lot of fun seeing guys actually really trying to look cool. Everyone was on board.”
There’s more at Mike’s place. [Dallas Stars]

The collector came for John Tortorella, basically because he said what NHL fans have been saying for the last ever.
The league also put Tortorella on notice that he was being assessed a conditional $25,000 fine.

If he has another act of "similar inappropriate behaviour" through Dec. 29, 2020, the NHL will collect the money https://t.co/NNkGpGatcY
Meanwhile, Columbus Blue Jackets fans are rallying to his defense in the manner to which we have become accustomed.
