Dallas Stars Daily Links: Stars Seek To Rule Homestand After “A Game That Got Away”

One up, one down, two weeks in American Airlines Center. The Dallas Stars got their first road win against the Columbus Blue Jackets but fell short of the sweep they’d hoped for at mid-week. Now they look to eat at home against some tough opponents.

The Stars gave up goals early and didn’t win a race against time to pull even in last night’s loss. Netminder Anton Khudobin took the L – and took it especially hard, as Stars senior staff writer Mike Heika reports:

“I hate to lose, I hate to play like this,” Khudobin said. “I don’t know what happened, but it wasn’t my night. I felt pretty good, physically, mentally, but there’s something that wasn’t going my way.”

Asked how he felt about Khudobin’s comments, Bowness said: “We win together, we lose together. We lose, we all have to find a way to be better.”

Veteran forward Blake Comeau is taking the long view, but he can’t wait to get back to the Stars’ own barn hangar:

“If anyone asked us if we would be happy with a 5-2-1 start, we would have been happy with that,” Comeau said.

“We’re disappointed we’re not going home with a win tonight, but we get to go home and we get to play in front of our fans. It’s going to be a big homestand, an important one. You’ve got to take advantage when you’re playing at home. If we can have a good homestand, we’re going to set ourselves up in a good spot.”

All you need to know about last night’s Toronto Maple Leafs-Vancouver Canucks game is that Jason Spezza grabbed a hatty. Also, he’s 37. That and the hatty.

…Those two things and Jordie Benn throwing hands with Wayne Simmonds. That’s it. That’s all you need to know.

While we’re working on new definitions of “uncomfortably close”…the NHL is “considering all of its options” as it works to crack down on COVID-19.

In case you missed it, here’s Mike Gartner praising Alex Ovechkin as the Great 8 takes his spot on the all-time goals list.

Oh, you’d rather have video of #709? Well, then.
