The Stars are ready to shine in the home of some of their biggest heroes.

Our boys are soaking up a few days in Finland, as we all impatiently await Friday and Saturday’s NHL Global Series. If Reddit is any indication, it sounds like we might have a decent home contingent in the stands for the weekend. If you’re there or will be there, let us know!

Sean Shapiro spent a good amount of time in Finland – even once being mistaken for an Uber driver. He has a great writeup on the Dallas Stars and our adopted Mafia.

The Dallas Stars are in Finland right now, prepping for a pair of games later this week against the Florida Panthers in Tampere.

Itโ€™s a homecoming trip for a franchise that has vital ties to the country, most notably through Jere Lehtinen and now Miro Heiskanen โ€” the first, and likely next Finn to have their respective numbers retired in Dallas.

For the Stars this has been at trip decades in the making, dating back to Jarkko Varvio being the first Finn to play after the franchise re-located from Minnesota to Texas.

More Stars (aka #FinnishMafia) Stuff

I don’t know about you, but I am LIVING for all this Stars Finland content, so that’s where I’m going to spend most of my time today! A ton of Sauna content right off the bat. I’m not jealous…you’re jealous.

Ok, ok last one.

The Rest of the Central Aren’t Having as Much Fun…

No such luck for the rest of the Central division, as there were several games on tap Monday night. And I don’t think they’re having as much fun as we are.

  • The Winnipeg Jets finally joined the loss column thanks to a Tavares hatty. Leafs win 6-4 [LINK]
  • Steven Stamkos return to Tampa with the Preds was spoiled with an overtime loss, 3-2. [LINK]
  • Another streak broken as the Sharks scored three late goals against Utah HC for their first win, 5-4 in overtime. [LINK]
  • Finally the Chicago Blackhawks got the only division win on Monday against none other than division foe the Avalanche. Maybe a trip to the sauna would help? [LINK]

Greetings from Scenic Cedar Park, and Beautiful Boise

The Texas Stars are still celebrating after their solid weekend against the Iowa Wild.

The Steelheads go out on the road this week for a stretch of six!

Did someone say #FinnishMafia

That’s going to be a fun time with a lot of Stars.
