Dallas Stars Daily Links: Next Man Up
Dallas has had to deal with a torrent of player absences, but that hasn’t held them back so far. Plus, highlights from last night’s win, Brent Burns makes his acting debut, and more.
The Dallas Stars may be undefeated, but they’ve had rotten luck when it comes to player availability. For last night’s game against the Detroit Red Wings, they were missing the following players: Ben Bishop, Tyler Seguin, Blake Comeau, Jamie Benn, Joel Kiviranta, and Roope Hintz.
That’s a tall order to overcome, but give credit to the Stars’ fringe roster players — they stepped up to the challenge:
“Our philosophy here is next man up,” Stars coach Rick Bowness said. “We weren’t sure of our lineup until we got here tonight. We had to make adjustments and these guys found a way. Every game is not going to be a Picasso and we’ve said that before. Sometimes you just have to find a way to win a game. We did that.”
It required overtime, but Dallas was ultimately able to secure the win. Jason Dickinson, who scored the game-winner, noted that overcoming challenges like this helps them out as both a team and individuals:
“Any kind of adversity is going to grow you as a player,” said Dickinson. “We’ve been through a lot as a group; we played through the bubble and we had guys step up and keep playing, and tonight they did too. We’ve got a good group of guys.”

Saad Yousuf gives his thoughts on the Stars’ 2-1 overtime win in his latest 20/20:
In OT, John Klingberg saved a goal on one end and created the game-winner on the other. Oh, and a PP goal earlier in the game. A clinic.

Discussing that, an unsung hero, Ty Dellandrea, Pysyk position switch, injury updates, Robertson & more

Finally, does the Hockey Hall of Fame voting need a shakeup? Down Goes Brown offers his two cents:
The Hockey Hall of Fame has already announced that there won’t be a class of 2021.

But when it comes to the sport’s highest honor, maybe hockey fans can take this time to ask the question: Are we even doing this right?
