It’s fair to assume this upcoming week will likely be one of the busiest for Dallas Stars GM Jim Nill. With a team that has Stanley Cup aspirations and cap room to work with, you better believe Nill is exploring additional pieces that can help this squad, even if it is not to assist a banged-up blue line.
I think the biggest challenge for the Stars is determining what to part with, considering the Stars have already shipped off their first and third round picks for this year’s draft. However they do have plenty of future picks to consider parting with.
Dallas Morning News writer Lia Assimakopoulos provides Stars Nation a brief list of potential targets Nill may be considering:
- Brian Dumoulin, Anaheim Ducks D
Seth Jones, Chicago Blackhawks D(traded to Florida Panthers)- Brock Nelson, New York Islanders C
- Mikko Rantanen, Carolina Hurricanes RW
- Rasmus Ristolainen, Philadelphia Flyers D
- David Savard, Montreal Canadiens D
While all these players do not necessarily fill holes in our blue line, bringing in another impactful forward could make a huge difference considering our defense has still been solid despite the injuries.
You can read Lia’s logic for each scenario here.

Hats off to Wyatt:
Wyatt Johnston became the ninth active player with at least three career hat tricks before age 22. The others: Patrik Laine (8), Steven Stamkos (5), Alex DeBrincat (4), Connor McDavid (4) Matt Boldy (3), Tyler Seguin (3), Taylor Hall (3) and John Tavares (3).#NHLStats:… pic.twitter.com/gWibtPXiaB

Power play struggles whattttt?
Tonight was the first time in Dallas Stars history that they went 100% on the power play while scoring at least four power play goals.

Hintz had a night for himself as well:
Roope Hintz (1-3—4) became just the second @DallasStars / North Stars player in the past 40 years to post consecutive four-point games, following Tyler Seguin (2 GP in 2018-19). No player in franchise history has extended their streak to three.#NHLStats: https://t.co/VHf8s17Qkd pic.twitter.com/lZZN4DfWBG

Would be great if the Stars can re-sign him this offseason:
It's safe to say Mikael Granlund has fit right in with the @DallasStars and now has 0-7—7 through his first nine games with the franchise.

Too busy watching the (actual) Oscars? If so, here is what you missed:
