Dallas Stars Daily Links: “Money Time”

The Stars’ top regular season goal scorers have been quiet, up until last night….

Through the first four games, the Dallas Stars’ high-octane offense was nowhere to be found, having only scored seven goals so far in Round 1. Last night, however, it seemed like that offense was found. The Stars netted six goals in a 6-2 rout of the Colorado Avalanche to close a pivotal Game 5 – and where some of those goals came from is equally important.

In a recent article by Dallas Morning News writer Lia Assimakopoulos, she brought to light an interesting statistic before last night’s tilt:

“Of the eight Dallas players who had scored 20 or more goals in the regular season, only two had scored in the series. Of the four that had 30 or more regular-season goals, none had scored.”

Prior to yesterday’s game, Stars’ head coach Pete Deboer identified the fact that none of the Stars’ big-name players have produced this postseason:

“I don’t think any of our big guys have delivered yet this series. The beauty of this is it’s time now. This is money time.”

And money time it was.

Lia delivers the deets:

The Stars were led by Wyatt Johnston, Mikko Rantanen and Roope Hintz — three of those 30-goal scorers — in their 6-2 win over Colorado. The win gave Dallas a 3-2 series lead and a chance to send Colorado into the offseason with a win in Game 6 Thursday night.

Those three Dallas forwards all finished with multi-point nights. Johnston scored two goals and added an assist. Rantanen had a goal and two assists, and Hintz had a goal and an assist.”
