Dallas Stars Daily Links: Late Goal Lifts Stars to 2-1 Win Over Senators

Thanks to a successful coach’s challenge from Lindy Ruff and a late third-period goal from Antoine Roussel, the Stars beat the Senators 2-1 for their 40th win of 2015-16. Mark Stepneski walks us through the victory.

It wasn’t much in the way of style points, but it was a key two points in the standings for the Dallas Stars. Antoine Roussel scored with 2:14 remaining to snap a 1-1 tie and lift the Stars to a 2-1 victory over the Ottawa Senators at Canadian Tire Centre Sunday evening.

“We’ve played a lot better games and lost. To end up fighting through it and finding a way to win it, it’s an important two points,” said Stars coach Lindy Ruff.

But despite grabbing those two points, Ruff wasn’t particularly impressed with his team’s play against the Sens.

“I wasn’t happy with our puck movement, Ruff said. “It might have been the worst puck moving game for missing passes and not making plays in the three years I have coached here. Somebody has to argue with me, but I can’t remember moving the puck that bad inside a game.”
