Dallas Stars Daily Links: John Klingberg Worried About Winning Games, Not Norris Trophy

Eighteen games into the season and the buzz surrounding John Klingberg is louder than ever. But does that mean the defenseman is starting to think about whether there’s a Norris Trophy in his future? Mike Heika decided to ask.

“No, not at all, it’s way too early,” said Klingberg, who is now tied for fourth overall in NHL scoring. “I’m just glad the team is winning and I’m playing well.”

“Playing well” might seem like a bit of an understatement, but coach Lindy Ruff pointed out that Klingberg’s team-first mentality is commonplace in the Stars’ locker room.

But Ruff said it won’t be the players who are focused on the trophies.

“Those guys would rather talk about the wins than talk about the points. I think that’s a great thing,” Ruff said. “Without them doing what they’re doing, we wouldn’t be winning. There’s a great feeling in the room. All of the team stuff is coming first. We don’t have a lot of breakdowns, and we’re showing a lot of composure. It’s a powerful thing that’s going on here right now.”
