Dallas Stars Daily Links: The Man Behind the Stars’ Goalies

The Dallas Stars have one of the top goaltending duos in the NHL in Ben Bishop and Anton Khudobin. But when praising the Stars’ netminders, some credit needs to be given to their goalie coach, Jeff Reese:

“Reeser plays a big role (in our success),” Bishop said. “He’s the man behind the scenes and does a great job of managing both of us. We watch video with him all of the time. He’s just a great goalie coach … It’s a really good working relationship. It’s not any type of dictatorship.”

Although both Bishop and Khudobin were established goaltenders before coming to Dallas, that doesn’t make Reese’s job “easy.” In fact, one could argue it’s harder because the two goaltenders play very different styles:

“They’re both terrific,” Reese said. “They couldn’t be any more opposite… You start with the size and go right down the line; the way they play, the way they position, the way they are off the ice, too. They’re completely different personalities, but that makes it fun for me.”
