Dallas Stars Daily Links: It’s a Trap!

At least we have this.

Three days off. 11-2 at home. 11-1 at the AAC and Otter a perfect 10-0 in the friendly confines. Rival Nashville coming off an 8-game winless streak. If you didn’t see this trap game coming, I’m not sure what to tell you. The signs were all there.

We came out sluggish and the Predators came out hungry. Despite not much coming out of the proceedings in the first period, we were made to pay three times in the span of three minutes in the second. Throw in a couple more goals disallowed by the men in stripes and it could’ve been an even uglier night. Let’s hope it’s out of our system, because the games are coming hot and heavy again leading up to Christmas.

It wasn’t all bad, though. And I don’t want to talk about the game anymore unless we’re talking about our new bash bro Lian Bichsel. Bish made his debut last night, and he sure did make it interesting.

After finding himself in the box for crosschecking about a minute into the game, Bichsel then tried to decapitate Michael McCarron. (Haters will say it was an accident – and yes, of course I’m only saying this because McCarron was fine and returned to the game.)

Glad McCarron was ok. Bichsel wasn’t done, however, and while the game didn’t go the way we wanted…hey, at least we got this.

Overall, an interesting debut for the big guy. He’s raw, but it won’t be boring.

More Dallas Stars Lian Bichsel Stuff

Because the game is worth forgetting, I’m just going with more Bichsel stuff.

The DMN got in on the action and offered up some insight on the big man.

And an interesting piece from Victory+ on Bichsel’s favorite player growing up – the Preds’ injured Swiss star, Roman Josi.

Elsewhere in the Central

A silver lining in our Central Division loss to cellar-dwellers Nashville last night is that it was a pretty rough night overall in the Central for pretty much everyone not named Hockey Club.

  • The other divisional matchup last night had Utah HC dispatch the Avalanche despite a decent night from Scott Wedgewood on his Colorado home debut. [RECAP]
  • Otherwise, it was all misery for the Central – starting with the Blackhawks dropping one to the Islanders, despite a rather impressive comeback attempt late in the third period. [RECAP]
  • The don’t count us out Sharks took down the Blues on the back of Macklin Celebrini. [RECAP]
  • The Jets dropped a heartbreaker to the Golden Knights, after allowing a late third period goal to tie it and an overtime goal to seal it. [RECAP]
  • And finally, the Wild got run out of their own building by a hot Edmonton Oilers club that just can’t stop coring goals right now. [RECAP]

Around the NHL

LFG. Congrats, Coach.

I feel like there was some intent here.

Greetings from Scenic Cedar Park and Beautiful Boise!

Are we thinking this might be the next call up?

Finally…

I haven’t seen this one make the rounds yet. It sure is nice to have good old Yukon Cornelius home.
