Won’t the real playmaker please stand up? Please stand up. Please stand up.

I’m not really an extreme kind of person. I don’t really get too high when we’re winning, and I don’t really get too low when we’re losing. Hockey seasons are a marathon, and you’re going to win or lose some games maybe you shouldn’t have – and this team is no exception to that. When we lost to the Hawks a few weeks back, I remember the comment sections dragging the team. And when we won a statement game Monday, I remember the people dragging those who dragged the team earlier. C’est la vie.

That’s why last night’s loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs is just another ride on that roller coaster of hockey fandom. Nonetheless, it’s still asking questions that we still don’t have great answers to about this Dallas Stars team. Before the game even started, Robert Tiffin over at D Magazine asked a question we’ve all been wondering.

The real discussion is this one:

There are worse places to be, of course. The Stars have been among the best in the league for two years in a row now, both in terms of regular-season and playoff success. But most Cup winners have had a superstar player or two with skins on the wall.

It’s a valid question…one I certainly don’t have an answer for. Catch the full article from Robert Tiffin at the link above.

More Dallas Stars

One big milestone from last night couldn’t be ignored.

One Robo continues to get the better of the other, unfortunately…but it’s still pretty fun to see.

And the one who got away…

Elsewhere In The Central

At least we kept pace in the division KT likes to call #murderdeathkill, as all of the top three dropped one last night.

  • The Wild put up a dud against the defending champs, losing 6-1. [RECAP]
  • And the Jets gave up two late goals to the lowly Ducks. Hey, at least we’re not the only ones having an identity crisis. [RECAP]
  • Utah, on the other hand, showed some spirit coming back from 2-0 in the third period to drop the Canucks in overtime 3-2. Impressive win for the Hockey Clubbers [RECAP]

Around The NHL

The Rangers continue their exodus…

Everyone’s talking about the six shots in three seconds, but it’s also six SAVES in three seconds from the goalie we’re facing next. Oof.

Greetings From Scenic Cedar Park And Beautiful Boise!

The Texas Stars won an exciting one in OT last night in Cedar Park, with Antonio Stranges and Matej Blümel continuing to impress.

And hey, don’t count the Idaho Steelheads out from producing a little magic of their own in OT.

Finally

What could go wrong?
