Happy Friday, Stars fans! It’s been a bit of an up and down week in Stars Nation this week, to say the least. After going down 0-2 early on Tuesday, the Stars showed some toughness by coming back and ultimately sending the Oilers packing after a shootout. Last night, the boys in Victory Green found themselves UP 2-0 after one, only to pretty much lay an egg defensively and in goal.

I was in the house last night, and can attest to the rollercoaster. At least the spot of good news was a solid power play unit, and Tyler Seguin finally getting one against the Ducks. Even so, it’s hard to score 5 goals and still go home empty-handed. C’est la vie. On to the next.

What’s happening…

Officially welcoming Rhodes to the Stars family! Maybe it was a lack of sleep??? But seriously, congrats Otter!

Very cool piece on our own Daryl “Razor” Reaugh, who is headed to the Hall this weekend. Big ups.

Also, this really cool piece from Victory+ on Mikko Rantanen

And I guess we should all be keeping up on this! It was nice to see Roope Hintz back on the ice last night. Ready for more reinforcements soon!

Elsewhere in the Central

Let’s get caught up on the last couple days of the Central…

  • The Mammoth ran into a hot team in Toronto Tuesday, falling 5-3 to the Leafs in their barn. (ESPN)
  • The Blues also got wrecked Tuesday by the Capitals away 6-1…with Ovechkin finally notching that 900th goal. Binnington even tried to pocket it for good measure. (ESPN) They did get some retribution last night though, as they took down the Sabres in Buffalo. (NHL.com)
  • The Blackhawks got the sole Central victory of the night Tuesday behind a third period hat trick for Tyler Bertuzzi. All of the goals in the 5-2 final score were scored in the third, which feels like it should be some kind of record, but probably isn’t. (NHL.com)
  • Last night, the Wild fell to the Hurricanes 4-3 in Carolina as the Canes stay hot. (CBS)
  • And finally, the Preds continue to stay mediocre, dropping one 3-1 to the Flyers at home. (ESPN)

Finally

Sorry to leave this one on a down note, but the big news yesterday came from the Cowboys. The Stars paid a nice tribute prior to the anthem last night, and many many folks in our world are feeling big emotions about it. Our condolences go out to Marshawn Kneeland’s family, friends, teammates and loved ones during this time. Check on your people. Speak up and speak out. You’re loved.
