TGIF DBD! Let’s end the week with an overview of the Stars’ fantasy outlook for 2024-25.

Our last share from Dallas Stars Day at NHL.com has the information you want for your 2024-25 fantasy draft. Who are your top picks, your underrated gems, and your keeper-league go-to’s? Let’s find out.

The NHL.com Fantasy Hockey staff put Jake Oettinger at the top of their list. His consistency in goal is a key highlight:

He has three straight 30-win seasons and ranks fifth in the NHL in victories (102) over that span. Oettinger has been a workhorse for the Stars, starting 160 of their 246 regular-season games (65 percent) over those three seasons. He had a strong Stanley Cup Playoffs with a 2.24 goals-against average over 19 starts, helping the Stars reach the Western Conference Final, and is among NHL.com’s top five fantasy goalies with a ceiling of finishing first at the position.

And look who else made the top five (act surprised):

[Miro] Heiskanen, who finished tied for the fifth most points among defensemen two seasons ago (73), had 54 points (nine goals, 45 assists) in 71 games last season. He has 55 power-play points in the past two seasons combined (four goals, 51 assists), ranking fifth among defensemen in that span, and should be considered a fringe top 10 fantasy option at the position.

Yes, we know: “This is all just fine, but where are the supercuts of Lian Bichsel smashing into people? I want them.”

Around The Leagues

  • No team wants to make the playoffs this season more than a team that sat them out last season. Jacob Stoller examines three clubs that could get back into the Stanley Cup race in 2025. [The Hockey News]
  • There’s going to be another Winter Classic with the Chicago Blackhawks at Wrigley Field, but it’ll be totally different from the one in 2009. (Well, I’ll buy that for a dollar.) [NHL]
