Dallas Stars Daily Links: Catch and Release
The Stars have chosen not to re-sign several former draft picks. Plus, the Blues beat the Bruins, trade targets, and more.
Yesterday, the Dallas Stars PR team reported that the Stars had elected to not sign several former draft picks:
Stars did not sign prospects Brett Davis, Liam Hawel, Jermaine Loewen and Markus Ruusu and have given up rights to those players. Ruusu becomes a free agent, the other 3 can re-enter draft per Stars PR

The name that will catch most fans’ eyes is Jermaine Loewen, who was the first ever Jamaican-born draft pick when the Stars selected him in the seventh round last year. As for the rest, our own Derek Neumeier wasn’t surprised that they weren’t re-signed, though he felt Liam Hawel was likely closer to being kept than the rest.
In other Stars news, there is none. Man I hate the offseason...
