The Captain, picking up the slack.
How are we feeling, Stars fans? I have to admit I needed a little extra time to get wound down from the thriller last night in the Big Apple. After going behind 3-0 early, I had questions about whether this team had the resilience to forge a comeback. After playing pretty well and having some poor puck luck, it looked like it might be one of those frustrating shoulda coulda woulda nights for the boys in Victory Green. But 3-0 became 3-3 and a late 4-3 deficit was erased as well, and our team sent the Rangers on their short ride home scratching their heads. It feels good to have one of those go the other way.
That, my friends, is what we call a character game. The Captain agreed on Victory+ postgame and PDB echoed it in the presser:
“Any time in this league you’re down 3-0 in a game and come back and win, especially on the road, it’s an identity, character, gut-check kind of win,” Stars coach Pete DeBoer said. “We’ve kind of climbed back in the standings here with a real good homestand the last two weeks, so we wanted to start this road trip off right. To be in that hole and find a way to get out of it early in this trip was really important for our group.”

And while we’re talking about some things warming up…let’s talk about point #3 here:

1) Dallas has a 5 game winning streak
2) Stars have points in 7 straight (6-0-1)
3) Dallas goes 2-2 on the power play
4) Thomas Harley continues to shine (1-2-3)
5) Robo of old is back (1-1-2)
6) Dadonov rolls (1-1-2)
Elsewhere in the Central
We had a couple of other divisional games to keep an eye on last night, as the top of the Central kept the pace:
- The Winnipeg Jets made easy work of the Nashville Predators, winning 5-2 and capping off Connor Hellebuyck’s 300th win. [RECAP]
- And the Minnesota Wild had a comeback of their own against a feisty St. Louis Blues team, winning 6-4. [RECAP]
Around the NHL
The only times you’ll ever hear me say positive things about the Wild unprovoked – they’ll all involve Marc-AndrΓ© Fleury.

Is there anyone in the league more snake-bitten than Logan Stankoven? Man’s overdue for a heater…(but cheers to Hutson…goodness).

With his 15,183rd career face-off win, Sidney Crosby has won the most face-offs in NHL history (since the NHL started tracking the stat in 1997-98). pic.twitter.com/0qf1wtEcJ5
Compared to some of the dross we’ve been getting lately…I’m down for this one.
This is a great idea so the NHL will definitely not do it https://t.co/8Qun7XPkf6
