Dallas Stars Daily Links: Antoine Roussel Drinks Opponents’ Tears of Sorrow

We might as well lead with the truth you’ve suspected all along: Antoine Roussel feeds on the disappointment of other teams, and their fans. Their sorrow is his Bat-suit, their tears the radioactive effluvium that gives him Spidey senses. Everything that kills them makes him stronger. It’s the source of his superpowers, basically.

The Dallas Stars‘ marquee agitator does some of his best work against the Chicago Blackhawks, whom he’s trolled so effectively over his career so far that he may as well be subletting space in their heads. Mike Heika talked to Rooster about his love for conflict:

“Honestly, this year, it has been fun at home because you can hear the Blackhawks fans and you want to make them be silent,” Roussel said. “We did that last game, and that was fun. If people want to come in and cheer for the Blackhawks in Dallas, then it is fun to shut them down and send them home sad.”

Roussel said he hears the crowd every game and feeds off of the cheers or boos.

“I like the energy, I need to hear the crowd and feel it,” he said. “I know when they say “ohhh,” or “oooo” I feel that.”

On a more serious note: Rous’ hometown of Roubaix is just a few miles from France’s border with Belgium. On Tuesday he offered this message in response to the Brussels terror attacks.

And fellow Francophone Star Jason Demers simply posted this:
