Veteran Winger Blake Comeau Rumored To Be On His Way To Dallas On A Three-Year Deal

The Dallas Stars are rumored have a new face in town as the team will add to their roster by signing Blake Comeau to a reported three-year deal worth $2.4 million per year. The veteran of 14 years, Comeau has had previous stints with the Colorado Avalanche, Pittsburgh Penguins, Columbus Blue Jackets, Calgary Flames, and New York Islanders.

The 32-year-old left winger is coming off of a season with the Colorado Avalanche where he notched 13 goals and 21 assists for 34 total points as an alternate captain for the team. Comeau is not only able to provide some depth and a scoring touch at his age, but also isn’t afraid to knock a couple guys out of their skates.

Comeau brings a hard-hitting style to his line and his hit totals always soar above many of the rest on his team year in and year out. With 145 hits in Comeau’s prior season, he ranked third amongst the Avalanche’s roster. His career high sits at 197 hits in 2013-2014 with Columbus, which ranked him at 37th in the NHL among hit leaders.

With Antoine Roussel reported by some as expected to head to Vancouver (no official word on this from Dallas, however), expect Comeau to fill in the gap and possibly slot with Radek Faksa and Tyler Pitlick. Comeau will certainly try to add into the depth of the forwards of the Dallas Stars that couldn’t get much production working towards the latter half of the season. The Stars will need to address that issue of production in the bottom lines and adding Comeau to the roster could just be what the Stars need in a consistent veteran player.

We’ll update this story once the signing has been confirmed by the Stars.
