Stars Lose 3-2 To Blue Jackets

The Dallas Stars continue to find ways to extend this terrible streak they are on. This time, it was at the hands of the Columbus Blue Jackets where they surrendered three rather quick goals. They made a valiant attempt at a comeback in the third period, but the hole was just too much for them to overcome.

1. A lot of Stars fans can relate to this:

2. They didn’t actually make history on that scoreless drought, which feels seemingly wrong.

The Stars went over 180 minutes without scoring a goal before scoring in the third period. That’s more than three straight games’ worth of not putting the puck into the net. Surprisingly, the longest such drought in franchise history goes back to when I was three years old and it lasted for more than four games’ worth of on-ice time:

3. If you’re looking for a silver lining, Miro Heiskanen has you covered.

The young stud blueliner got his first goal of the season, breaking his drought and providing the spark to the team’s comeback attempt in the third period.

4. On the other positive from this game, the Stars didn’t allow a power play goal against.

So that’s something.

5. Rick Bowness got big-mad.

Late in the third period, the Stars got an interference call on Andrej Sekera on a play that was basically a collision between two players. The puck had been flipped into the neutral zone, and as the Columbus player was going up to try to glove it down, Sekera ducked his head under him so as to not get hit in the face. His incidental contact with the opponent essentially ended the Stars’ comeback chances, as it left them with only about 80 seconds in the game to try to find a tying goal after killing off a two-minute minor.
