Dallas Stars 2014 Development Camp Roster & Schedule

The Dallas Stars announced their 2014 Development Camp schedule and roster yesterday, and it’s a bit different than what we’ve seen in the past in that a number of players have now graduated out this camp normally reserved for the young prospects in the system.

Camp will run from July 8 to July 12, concluding with a skills event on Saturday on the final day of camp. There will also be a skills event and autograph session for fans on Thursday, July 9, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.

Development camp will be held at Dr. Pepper Arena in Frisco.

The camp will consist of practices, scrimmages and plenty of classroom time for the prospects who are all coming to Dallas to get to know the Stars organization and to learn the lessons needed to grow into professional hockey players. Proper workout regimens, diet and nutrition and offseason training are also a part of the week-long camp.

Also notable is the overall lack of Texas Stars players, with only Branden Troock, Taylor Peters, and perhaps Troy Vance the only players in camp expected to be in the AHL next season. Phillipe Desrosiers becomes the most intriguing goaltender in camp, along with the newly-drafted Brent Moran. Other notable top prospects in the system that will be at camp include Jason Dickinson, Remi Elie, Emil Molin, Devin Shore, Brett Pollock, Ludwig Bystrom and Julius Honka.

This camp is also a great chance for undrafted and local players to show their skills to the Stars organization, and there have been several players (Mike Hedden, Brendan Ranford) who first appeared at development camp and now have NHL contracts or have become staples on the AHL squad for Texas. Notable players from the Dallas area include John Searfross (U-Nebraska-Omaha), Cole Martin (Kelowna), Matt Staples (Medicine Hat) and Christian Frey (Ohio State) — all players who hail from the Dallas area.
