Dallas Stars 2013 NHL Draft Central

2:00 p.m. CT | June 30, 2013

Prudential Center | Newark, New Jersey

TV: NBCSN (2-8pm), NHL Network (8pm – End)

Today is the day. Months of anticipation, speculation and endless prognosticating have led up to this moment, when the Dallas Stars finally make their first round selection in the 2013 NHL Draft. Perhaps a bit of a dramatic introduction, but there’s a good reason the draft junkies are especially excited for this year’s draft over those previously.

This is a moment of new beginnings for the Dallas Stars, from changes in the front office to a big change behind the bench — with the likelihood of the team on the ice also being much different than the previous season. New general manager Jim Nill has apparently played an aggressive game thus far in New Jersey, with the Stars connected to nearly every major trade as well as the top free agent center now on the market.

The Stars are also likely to be very interested in moving up in the draft but whether such a trade occurs is anyone’s guess at this point; the price for moving has been steep and no matter what talent might be available, the prices may preclude any major trade up from actually happening. The Stars are also in need of top six centers and Nill could use draft-day trades to address such a need in the organization.

All in all, this is going to be one full day of action. Consider this the thread to discuss the draft and any rumors that will undoubtedly pop up throughout the day. We’ll provide more discussion threads throughout the day as these fill up.

Please us this thread as the main discussion forum during the draft.

The Draft begins at 2:00 p.m. CT; still lots of time for negotiating.
