Dallas Stars 2013-2014 Season Top Moment #2: Dallas Stars Clinch Playoff Spot With Win Over St Louis Blues

As part of our look back at the season that was, the DBD staff has put together a Top 10 list of the best moments of the season, moments that occurred within the course of the year that were highlights of this particular team and it’s fight to the playoffs. They’re ranked from 1-10, and we’ll present them in reverse order, leading up to the top moment of the 2013-2014 season.

While the atmosphere during the playoff games cannot really be beaten by many games this past year, the night the Stars sealed their playoff fate comes pretty close.

It was a flip of the script from so many seasons past.

Instead of missing out on the postseason (again) the Stars came through with a resounding win to clinch the last wild card spot in the west. They beat the St Louis Blues in resounding fashion, giving Kari Lehtonen a shutout against one of the top teams in the central division.

Even having a beer spilled all over me, soaking my jeans, could not dim the excitement I felt that night when the Stars finalized their postseason berth.

The best part of this game wasn’t necessarily the play — which was good, don’t get me wrong — but the reactions by the team as they realized their goal for the season. Like Tyler Seguin’s huge grin after scoring this powerplay goal:
