North American Juniors And NCAA
OHL
After being cut from Team Canada for the World Junior Championship, Remi Elie returned to the Belleville Bulls. He played two games and had a single assist through those games. His assist was during a 5-4 win against the Peterborough Petes on Thursday. Highlights of the game can be found here.
Jason Dickinson was also cut from Canada’s WJC team and returned to play for the Guelph Storm on Saturday. In a 4-3OT win against the Erie Otters, Dickinson finished with a single assist. Highlights of the game can be found here.
Aaron Haydon would register two assists in two games for the Niagara IceDogs this week. He now has 15 points through 33 games this season. Both assists were during a 8-7OT win for the IceDogs on Thursday. Highlights of the game can be found here.
Brent Moran would only play one game for the IceDogs this week, an 8-7OT win against the Owen Sound Attack on Thursday. Out of 34 shots Moran would save 27, allowing seven goals in nearly 64 minutes of ice time. He finished with a 0.794SVS%. Reading post game reports it sounds as if the game was filled with turnovers and generally poor play from both sides which may go some way to explain those numbers.
Alex Peters is still out following surgery to repair an ACL injury.
Patrick Sanvido had a single assist through two games this week. In a 2-1 loss to the Saginaw Spirit Sanvido had a primary assist on their only goal. Highlights of the game can be found here.
WHL
Brett Pollock went pointless in two games this week for the Edmonton Oil Kings. He currently has 29 points through 34 games this season. He leads the Oil Kings in points by a single point lead over defenseman Ashton Sautner.
Cole Ully would sign an entry level contract with the Dallas Stars this week, capping off a two point week for the Kamloops Blazers. Ully will almost certainly play with the Texas Stars in the AHL next year now that he has signed a contract.
Both assists came during a 7-3 loss to the Medicine Hat Tigers on Wednesday. Highlights of the game can be found here. He now has 48 points in 35 games.
QMJHL
Philippe Desrosiers was pulled after 35 minutes in a 7-3 loss to the Quebec Remparts on Thursday. He allowed four goals on 15 shots, a 0.733SVS%. It has been a very up and down season so far for Desrosiers and I’m not sure if that is because the Oceanic are a worse team this year or whether he has regressed.
USHL
Matej Paulovic has not been in action for the Muskegon Lumberjacks this week, he has been selected to compete in the WJC this year for Slovakia.
NCAA
Neither of the Dallas Stars NCAA prospects have been playing this week.
Europe
Sweden
The SHL has not played this week and will return on the 26th December.
Rogle played one final game this week and will return to action on the 27th December. Both Emil Molin and Niklas Hansson played eight minutes in Rogle’s only game and both went pointless. Niklas Hansson was limited to 36 seconds of ice time in the first period and didn’t touch the ice in the second. This is the second time in the last few weeks that Hansson has had extremely limited ice time.
The Swedish J20 doesn’t return to action until early in January 2015.
Finland
The Liiga hasn’t played since the 15th of December and won’t return until the 27th. While Ilves did play on Monday 15th Makela was attending the Finnish WJC camp and was not on the roster.
Esa Lindell went pointless in three Channel One Cups games for Finland this week.
Miro Karjalainen is injured and did not play in HIFK J20’s only game this week.
Russia
Dmitry Sinitsyn is still out injured and hasn’t played for Dynamo Moscow this week.
