We’re officially underway with the 4 Nations Face-Off, and what a start it was. Early reviews are in, and people seem sold on this format over the typical NHL All-Star game. I have to agree. Watching games that the players actual care about during the break is a revelation. I’m curious how this shakes out in the upcoming years, whether it expands (Russia still on the outside looking in), and where the games could actually be played. I’d love to hear some discussion on who’s missing, and ideas for the next iteration of the 4 Nations Face-Off.
Speaking of the 4 Nations, and Sweden specifically, we all caught the news yesterday that Loui Eriksson is calling it a career, and what a career it was. Robert Tiffin highlighted the Swede this week:
Eriksson was a really fun player to watch. Not because he was flashy—although he could score goals like nobody’s business when it came down to it—but because he was relentless. The Swedish left wing could play on the penalty kill and the power play, and he could (and did) play with dynamic-but-different players like Mike Modano, Brad Richards, Mike Ribeiro, Brenden Morrow, and even Jaromir Jagr.

Greetings from Scenic Cedar Park and Beautiful Boise!
Business as usual for the Texas Stars and Idaho Steelheads. Unfortunately, the Texas Stars dropped one they normally wouldn’t.
The Texas Stars were defeated 4-2 by the Manitoba Moose on Wednesday at the Canada Life Centre. This marks Manitoba’s first victory over Texas in five meetings this season.

Happy birthday (2/13/1965) to Dallas Stars broadcaster Daryl “Razor” Reaugh.

Razor was drafted in the 2nd round (42nd overall) in the 1984 NHL Entry Draft, ahead of Patrick Roy (51st), Brett Hull (117th), Luc Robitaille (171st), and Gary Suter (180th).#TexasHockey pic.twitter.com/At7lpwWU6o
